Nia is a low-impact movement technique, inspired by dance, martial arts, and mindfulness practices. Nia is easily adaptable to all levels of fitness and experience. Nia creates a playful and powerful experience, boosting pleasure, strength, mobility, stability, and overall well-being. Small group classes are facilitated in a relaxed, welcoming, and non-judgmental atmosphere.

Ongoing Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 pm. Feel like a new, fun and challenging hobby? Give Argentine Tango a try. Confirm dates as there is no dancing during breaks.
We will do individual exercises and partner activities to understand this improvisational dance! We will explore various concepts of connection (to oneself, to the music, to the dance partner, to the dance floor, to other social dancers).
Parking is available on campus after 5 pm.
What to wear? If you own a pair of salsa shoes, jazz/ballet flats, or Toms, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Partner Dance? You are welcome to join with or without a partner. Those who come alone will be paired up.

This is a 12 week progressive series. All ages and levels of experience are welcome. Dress is casual.

Modern Square Dance is a fun way to get a little exercise for your mind and body, and socialize, too.
New to dance? Do not think you can dance or do not think you like to dance? We have all been there.
Show up on Thursday night with willingness to give it a whirl. Steps are instructed one at a time and then sequenced together by the caller for an interactive dance experience. Dances include lively, upbeat music and a laser light show.
Just kidding about the laser light show, but the music gets you on your feet.
Simple line dances are also instructed weekly.

Please join Sarit for Nia classes at the beautiful Karuna Cottage studio. This is a perfect opportunity for both beginners and experienced Nia enthusiasts to get into the groove during the late summer months.
Nia is a low-impact movement technique inspired by dance, martial arts, and mindfulness practices. It is easily adaptable to all levels of fitness and experience, creating a playful and powerful experience that boosts pleasure, strength, mobility, stability, and overall well-being. Group classes are facilitated in a relaxed, welcoming, and non-judgmental atmosphere.
Sarit Sela is a Black Belt Nia Instructor who has been sharing her passion for Nia with the Gainesville community since 2011.
Beginners and people of all fitness levels are welcome.

Sat 28 Sep, 10-11 am. This series of guided meditations, led by instructors from the UF Mindfulness team, is inspired by art in the Harn collections and held at the museum. Take a break from your regular schedule to slow down, experience stillness, and re-charge. Forty minutes of guided meditation is followed by an art spotlight tour.

Nia is a low-impact movement technique inspired by dance, martial arts, and mindfulness practices. Body-centered and sensory-based, Nia is personable and easily adaptable to all levels of fitness and experience. Participants are invited for movement to music after tuning their bodies and senses, whether sitting or standing. We note that participants should wear comfortable clothes and shoes (or are even invited to participate without them) and bring a bottle of water.
