Nia is a low-impact movement technique, inspired by dance, martial arts, and mindfulness practices. Nia is easily adaptable to all levels of fitness and experience. Nia creates a playful and powerful experience, boosting pleasure, strength, mobility, stability, and overall well-being. Small group classes are facilitated in a relaxed, welcoming, and non-judgmental atmosphere.

Ongoing Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 pm. Feel like a new, fun and challenging hobby? Give Argentine Tango a try. Confirm dates as there is no dancing during breaks.
We will do individual exercises and partner activities to understand this improvisational dance! We will explore various concepts of connection (to oneself, to the music, to the dance partner, to the dance floor, to other social dancers).
Parking is available on campus after 5 pm.
What to wear? If you own a pair of salsa shoes, jazz/ballet flats, or Toms, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Partner Dance? You are welcome to join with or without a partner. Those who come alone will be paired up.

Friends, sweethearts and music lovers can twirl the night away at the annual Santa Fe College (SF) Valentine’s Swing Dance. The semi-formal event will include light appetizers and free swing dance instruction.
Experienced instructors will teach the basics of swing dance.
SF Associate Professor of Music and Band Director David L. Smith will conduct the two groups providing live music for the evening, the Jazz Ensemble and the Jazz Combo.

Sun 11 Feb, 12-4 pm. We are excited to bring you our first event of the year, an ACR Square Dance to benefit the Heartwood Foundation and its mission to highlight Gainesville’s local music scene. There is a suggested donation of $10, kids 12 and under are free to attend this family friendly event.
We will have a live band and caller who will take you through the basics of a square dance at the beginning of the event. This is designed to be very beginner friendly.
So, if you have always wanted to learn to square dance this is your chance to try it in a fun, low-stress environment. We will be hosting this event on the lawn, with picnic tables, games, and a large dance area, but we encourage you to bring a blanket or chairs. You can even come in your best square dance garb, whatever that may be.

We are going to spend some time mastering the Hustle!
During the Dance Mix, we will continue with some West Coast Swing, along with Waltz, Cha Cha, Rumba, and other social dances. If you do not know a dance, you will learn enough to do the basic steps.
Dancing is for all levels except brand-new dancers. If you have never danced before, take our 4-week beginner series.
