Nia is a low-impact movement technique, inspired by dance, martial arts, and mindfulness practices. Nia is easily adaptable to all levels of fitness and experience. Ongoing Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 pm. Feel like a new, fun and challenging hobby? Give Argentine Tango a try. Confirm dates as there is no dancing during breaks.
We will do individual exercises and partner activities to understand this improvisational dance! We will explore various concepts of connection (to oneself, to the music, to the dance partner, to the dance floor, to other social dancers).
Parking is available on campus after 5 pm.
What to wear? If you own a pair of salsa shoes, jazz/ballet flats, or Toms, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Partner Dance? You are welcome to join with or without a partner. Those who come alone will be paired up.

This one-hour class is perfect for all levels of experience and fitness.

Tribal Fusion Belly Dance is for dancers of all shapes, sizes, and genders.
Tribal Fusion combines the techniques of American Tribal Style, Hip Hop, Classic Westernized dance, American Cabaret Bellydance and much more to create a style that is modern, serpentine, and smooth, Tribal Fusion Belly Dance also uses some of the same movement principles from traditional forms such as Flamenco, Kathak, Odissi, and other folkloric and classical dance styles. Waltz sessions are led by Patrick Harrigan, an adept in soft martial arts. Patrick has been doing cross-step waltz for the past six years and now also coaches individuals and couples, beginners and experienced waltzers alike, in the basics of cross-step waltz.

Start your tango journey with the UF Argentine Tango Club. You’ll be challenged to think and move using tango ideas with an engaging and diverse group. You will do individual exercises and partner activities to explore what tango is all about.
Classes will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays during the Fall semester, with some exceptions so be sure to check each week.
Where: Most classes will be held in Dance Studio B, located in the basement of the Reitz Union. A few will be held in Studio A next door to B. So be sure to just check the schedule information at the door if you are unsure.
What to wear: If you own a pair of salsa shoes or jazz/ballet flats, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Fancy shoes are not necessary and please avoid flip flops or tennis shoes.

This event will cost $20 or $15 with a student ID. We will have a LIVE band preforming for our dance so be prepared to dance your socks off to The Jazz Phools.
As always we will have a beginner lesson that will start at 7 pm and the Jazz Phools will kick off our dance at 8 pm. You may come alone or with a group of friends. Coming with a dance partner is not necessary and no prior dance experience is required.
The Rion Ballroom is located on the 2nd floor of the Reitz Union. If you are off campus you can park in the Reitz Union Parking Garage or surrounding lots, it is free on the weekends. No parking decal required.

Classes will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays during the Fall semester, with some exceptions so be sure to check each week.
Where: Most classes will be held in Dance Studio B, located in the basement of the Reitz Union. A few will be held in Studio A next door to B. So be sure to just check the schedule information at the door if you are unsure.
What to wear: If you own a pair of salsa shoes or jazz/ballet flats, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Fancy shoes are not necessary and please avoid flip flops or tennis shoes.

Tribal Fusion Belly Dance is for dancers of all shapes, sizes, and genders.
Tribal Fusion combines the techniques of American Tribal Style, Hip Hop, Classic Westernized dance, American Cabaret Bellydance and much more to create a style that is modern, serpentine, and smooth, Tribal Fusion Belly Dance also uses some of the same movement principles from traditional forms such as Flamenco, Kathak, Odissi, and other folkloric and classical dance styles. For those of you who haven't been to an Ecstatic Dance, it's part free-form dance party, part moving meditation, and part community gathering. We let go of talking during the 90-minute playlist, which follows a "5 Rhythms" pattern (a concept created by Gabrielle Roth) that begins slowly, peaks with some hot beats, and gently brings us back down to earth.
These elements facilitate awareness and appreciation of our bodies, allowing us to explore our inner landscapes. It's also good ol' fashioned FUN.

Nia is a cardio dance group fitness class that incorporates martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. As an ongoing practice, Nia promotes mindfulness, holistic fitness and well-being. Nia empowers people of all shapes and sizes to connect to their body, mind, emotions and spirit by paying attention to sensation.
This one-hour class is perfect for all levels of experience and fitness.

Wear comfortable movement clothes. Bring a bottle of water. You are encouraged to be practice Nia barefoot.

Build a solid foundation gaining more knowledge of West Coast Swing concepts and patterns at our West Coast Swing Group class. Stay and practice at our usual social dance, which continues until everyone is done dancing. The more you dance, the better you get. Dancing is fun.
