Nia is a low-impact movement technique, inspired by dance, martial arts, and mindfulness practices. Nia is easily adaptable to all levels of fitness and experience. Nia creates a playful and powerful experience, boosting pleasure, strength, mobility, stability, and overall well-being. Small group classes are facilitated in a relaxed, welcoming, and non-judgmental atmosphere.

Ongoing Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 pm. Feel like a new, fun and challenging hobby? Give Argentine Tango a try. Confirm dates as there is no dancing during breaks.
We will do individual exercises and partner activities to understand this improvisational dance! We will explore various concepts of connection (to oneself, to the music, to the dance partner, to the dance floor, to other social dancers).
Parking is available on campus after 5 pm.
What to wear? If you own a pair of salsa shoes, jazz/ballet flats, or Toms, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Partner Dance? You are welcome to join with or without a partner. Those who come alone will be paired up.

Nia empowers people of all shapes and sizes to connect to their body, mind, emotions and spirit by paying attention to sensation.
This one-hour class is perfect for all levels of experience and fitness.

Want to learn tango? Come join the UF Argentine Tango Club for a free beginner tango class. Feel free to join even if you have never danced tango before, there are teachers for whatever level you might be.
Who: Everyone can come. The beginner class is geared for people who have never danced before or who want to practice the basics. The intermediate class is for those who have been to at least some classes and is for you if you feel ready and confident enough to learn some new steps. The advanced class is for those who have been dancing for a long while now and will feature more complicated steps, so ask a teacher to make sure you are experienced enough for this level.

The second hour covers a variety of social dances such as Waltz, Rumba, Two Step, Bachata and the like, enough so that you can do these dances at socials.
New series starting September 6 for beginners. This series caters to people who have never danced before. This is a progressive series, starting at the beginning.
This is a 6-week series, skipping Thursday September 13 and Thursday October, ending Thursday October 25.
Experienced dancers are attending this series as well. We have a group of experienced dancers who have been through this series before. If you have experience, you can dance with them during this time.
Each class is one hour and consists of both instruction and dancing.
Couples friendly, you rotate as much as you want or not at all. Singles friendly, no partner needed.

Want to learn tango? Come join the UF Argentine Tango Club for a free beginner tango class. Feel free to join even if you have never danced tango before, there are teachers for whatever level you might be.
Who: Everyone can come. The beginner class is geared for people who have never danced before or who want to practice the basics. The intermediate class is for those who have been to at least some classes and is for you if you feel ready and confident enough to learn some new steps. The advanced class is for those who have been dancing for a long while now and will feature more complicated steps, so ask a teacher to make sure you are experienced enough for this level.

Want to learn tango? Come join the UF Argentine Tango Club for a free beginner tango class. Feel free to join even if you have never danced tango before, there are teachers for whatever level you might be.
Who: Everyone can come. The beginner class is geared for people who have never danced before or who want to practice the basics. The intermediate class is for those who have been to at least some classes and is for you if you feel ready and confident enough to learn some new steps. The advanced class is for those who have been dancing for a long while now and will feature more complicated steps, so ask a teacher to make sure you are experienced enough for this level.

New series starting September 6 for beginners. This series caters to people who have never danced before. This is a progressive series, starting at the beginning.
This is a 6-week series, skipping Thursday September 13 and Thursday October, ending Thursday October 25.
Experienced dancers are encouraged to attend this series as well. We have a group of experienced dancers who have been through this series before. If you have experience, you can dance with them during this time.
Each class is one hour and consists of both instruction and dancing.
Couples friendly, you rotate as much as you want or not at all. Singles friendly, no partner needed.
The more you dance, the faster you learn.
The cost is for one class per person. You are invited to stay for the other classes on the same night at no extra charge, because we want you to dance more and learn faster.

Sat 22 Sep 2018, 12:30-2 pm. Samba workshop explores various styles of this Brazilian rhythm. Workshop warm-up of consists of isolations in cadence with rhythms of the candomblé, followed by an introduction to samba de roda, the root of all samba. Students will get their hearts racing with samba-reggae before breaking down the structure and technique of samba-no-pe. Class culminates in Rio-style show choreography with variations for beginning through advanced students.
Beginners will focus on finding the downbeat, while advanced dancers will learn shine sequences. This is a great class for aerialists looking to add some Latin flavor to their floor choreography as well as friends of World Dance.
Prerequisites: positive attitude. Dance heels for choreography optional.

New series starting September 6 for beginners. This series caters to people who have never danced before. This is a progressive series, starting at the beginning.
This is a 6-week series, skipping Thursday September 13 and Thursday October, ending Thursday October 25.
Experienced dancers are encouraged to attend this series as well. We have a group of experienced dancers who have been through this series before. If you have experience, you can dance with them during this time.
Each class is one hour and consists of both instruction and dancing.
Couples friendly, you rotate as much as you want or not at all. Singles friendly, no partner needed.
The more you dance, the faster you learn.
The cost is for one class per person. You are invited to stay for the other classes on the same night at no extra charge, because we want you to dance more and learn faster.

Want to learn tango? Come join the UF Argentine Tango Club for a free beginner tango class. Feel free to join even if you have never danced tango before, there are teachers for whatever level you might be.
Who: Everyone can come. The beginner class is geared for people who have never danced before or who want to practice the basics. The intermediate class is for those who have been to at least some classes and is for you if you feel ready and confident enough to learn some new steps. The advanced class is for those who have been dancing for a long while now and will feature more complicated steps, so ask a teacher to make sure you are experienced enough for this level.
