Nia is a low-impact movement technique, inspired by dance, martial arts, and mindfulness practices. Nia is easily adaptable to all levels of fitness and experience. Nia creates a playful and powerful experience, boosting pleasure, strength, mobility, stability, and overall well-being. Small group classes are facilitated in a relaxed, welcoming, and non-judgmental atmosphere.

Ongoing Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 pm. Feel like a new, fun and challenging hobby? Give Argentine Tango a try. Confirm dates as there is no dancing during breaks.
We will do individual exercises and partner activities to understand this improvisational dance! We will explore various concepts of connection (to oneself, to the music, to the dance partner, to the dance floor, to other social dancers).
Parking is available on campus after 5 pm.
What to wear? If you own a pair of salsa shoes, jazz/ballet flats, or Toms, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Partner Dance? You are welcome to join with or without a partner. Those who come alone will be paired up.

This seven week long immersion into Sacred Dance will explore the ancient art of Bellydance in correlation to the seven Chakras. Each week we will focus on one of Chakras and work on the dance isolations that activate that energy point in the body. A portion of all sales made at The Bull during the event are donated to GNV Bridge Literacy Program, a local non-profit that responds to the large literacy disparities in Gainesville. When and Where: All classes are on Thursdays starting at 6 pm with open practice after class until 8 pm. Most classes will be held in Dance Studio B, located in the basement of the Reitz Union. Classes on 9/29 and 10/6 will be a shorter class/practice from 6-7 pm and held in Studio A.
The dance studios are located on the bottom floor of the Reitz Union. Parking on campus is free and open after 4:30 pm.

The dance studios are located on the bottom floor of the Reitz Union. Parking on campus is free and open after 4:30 pm.
What to wear: If you own a pair of salsa shoes or jazz/ballet flats, those work great. Toms also are a comfortable option. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Fancy shoes are not necessary and please avoid flip flops or tennis shoes.

A super special offering as I have discovered what is my deepest pleasure. The art of contact improv.
Contact improvisation, by Googles definition, is a form of improvised dancing that has been developing internationally since 1972. It involves the exploration of one's body in relationship to others by using the fundamentals of sharing weight, touch, and movement awareness.
This experience will be comprised of 2 parts. A 1-hour long class starting at 7:30 pm followed by a contact jam going until 10:30.
