Nia is a low-impact movement technique, inspired by dance, martial arts, and mindfulness practices. Nia is easily adaptable to all levels of fitness and experience. Nia creates a playful and powerful experience, boosting pleasure, strength, mobility, stability, and overall well-being. Small group classes are facilitated in a relaxed, welcoming, and non-judgmental atmosphere.

Ongoing Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 pm. Feel like a new, fun and challenging hobby? Give Argentine Tango a try. Confirm dates as there is no dancing during breaks.
We will do individual exercises and partner activities to understand this improvisational dance! We will explore various concepts of connection (to oneself, to the music, to the dance partner, to the dance floor, to other social dancers).
Parking is available on campus after 5 pm.
What to wear? If you own a pair of salsa shoes, jazz/ballet flats, or Toms, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Partner Dance? You are welcome to join with or without a partner. Those who come alone will be paired up.

Sat 6 Jun 2020, 11 am. Charleston, Charleston, made in Carolina....and taught to YOU in Orlando. In this all-levels workshop, you'll dive into the art of that 1920's dance: The Charleston!
This is the workshop everyone has been waiting on, and we're going to make sure you get what you asked for. By the end of this one day series, you'll know enough solo Charleston to dance an entire song, if not an entire night. No partner will be required.
Are you unsure if solo dancing is for you? Good news! What you learn in this workshop you can use in your partner dancing. You won't be alone - you'll be in a studio with encouraging like-minded peers, eager to grow and dance.
SAFETY
Our priority is you and your safety. Spots will be limited in the studio space and dancers will be spaced out 6 feet apart. Stepping in, dropping down, we move into the body, breath and sweat as a reset and resource. In times of great change we are asked for our dynamic embodiment. Ecstatic movement brings us home as our own leader and teacher. This is the dance makes waves as we turn turbulence to tranquility as a collective intention. This is our body prayer.

Tue 9 Jun 2020, 7-8 pm. Dance will be Bachata for June 9th and 16th. Starting with basics on the 9th. Must wear a mask when dancing. Social distancing will be followed between couples. Cost is $24/couple per class. Limit of 10 couples.
We are very pleased that Florida will be in Phase 2 starting June 5th. If you are not comfortable by all means stay home until you feel safe to participate.
As usual, wrapped refreshments and drinks available but feel free to bring your own snacks as well.
You must RSVP. There is a limit of only 35 people. Tables and seating have been reconfigured.
Masks are required to be worn when dancing. We will be taking temperatures when you arrive. Anyone with a temp over 100.4 will not be allowed to attend. You may not attend if you've been around anyone with covid-19 in the last 2 weeks. We do recommend continued washing and sanitizing of hands often.

Join Amye Francis and special guest instructor Aaron (Ay-Ay-Ron) Seals of Orlando Swing Dance for a series of balboa lessons, online in your own home.
Whether you're a brand new beginner, or have been dancing balboa for some time, we welcome you. Lessons will be tailored to fit the needs and goals of all students in the class regardless of their level.

Nia is an awesome fusion movement art I have been teaching for close to a decade. It draws from dance, martial arts and mindfulness, and creates a unique holistic wellness program. No previous experience or special talent needed - just some curiosity to try something new!
Nia is my hobby, not business, and I teach it as a way to build a healthy and happy community. Classes are free of charge; donations to our local food bank are encouraged as a way to pay it forward.
I teach on Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30 pm at Thomas Center Gardens, Sundays 10 am at a beautiful yard in SW GNV.

Tue 23 Jun 2020, 7-8 pm. Dance will be WC Swing for June 23rd and 30th. Starting with basics on the 23rd. Must wear a mask when dancing. Social distancing will be followed between couples. Cost is $24/couple per class. Limit of 10 couples.
We are very pleased that Florida will be in Phase 2 starting June 5th. If you are not comfortable by all means stay home until you feel safe to participate.
As usual, wrapped refreshments and drinks available but feel free to bring your own snacks as well.
You must RSVP. There is a limit of only 35 people. Tables and seating have been reconfigured.
Masks are required to be worn when dancing. We will be taking temperatures when you arrive. Anyone with a temp over 100.4 will not be allowed to attend. You may not attend if you've been around anyone with covid-19 in the last 2 weeks. We do recommend continued washing and sanitizing of hands often.

Remember this is an exercise class for maintaining all aspects of our wellness and having fun! NO experience required, let's just have fun and move our bodies with no expectations ???????????????????????????????????
Class is 30 minutes total with a warm-up, abdominals, full body work out, (20 mins) cool down and guided meditation (10 mins)

Thu 25 Jun 2020, 8 am. Set to a soundscape of 8 songs we cover the landscape of emotion and explore what it is to be human through the dance.
Stepping in, dropping down, we move into the body, breath and sweat as a reset and resource. In times of great change we are asked for our dynamic embodiment. Ecstatic movement brings us home as our own leader and teacher. This is the dance makes waves as we turn turbulence to tranquility as a collective intention. This is our body prayer.

Have fun sharing your time with other people, doing beautiful dances to great music, while learning how to dance. The best exercise for your mind, body and soul.
You do not need a real partner. Imaginary partners are fine, possibly better.
Let me know what you would like to do, such as other levels of instruction, other dances, other formats for the dance sessions or dancing on other days or times.
The session is aimed at Beginner Intermediate level dancers. You do not need to be experienced in these particular dances. You should have some dance experience.
If you are a Novice dancer, let me know so we can schedule sessions for you and other Novice dancers.
