Nia is a low-impact movement technique, inspired by dance, martial arts, and mindfulness practices. Nia is easily adaptable to all levels of fitness and experience. Nia creates a playful and powerful experience, boosting pleasure, strength, mobility, stability, and overall well-being. Small group classes are facilitated in a relaxed, welcoming, and non-judgmental atmosphere.

Ongoing Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 pm. Feel like a new, fun and challenging hobby? Give Argentine Tango a try. Confirm dates as there is no dancing during breaks.
We will do individual exercises and partner activities to understand this improvisational dance! We will explore various concepts of connection (to oneself, to the music, to the dance partner, to the dance floor, to other social dancers).
Parking is available on campus after 5 pm.
What to wear? If you own a pair of salsa shoes, jazz/ballet flats, or Toms, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Partner Dance? You are welcome to join with or without a partner. Those who come alone will be paired up.

Want to learn tango? Come join the UF Argentine Tango Club for a free beginner tango class. Feel free to join even if you have never danced tango before, there are teachers for whatever level you might be.
Who: Everyone can come. The beginner class is geared for people who have never danced before or who want to practice the basics. The intermediate class is for those who have been to at least some classes and is for you if you feel ready and confident enough to learn some new steps. The advanced class is for those who have been dancing for a long while now and will feature more complicated steps, so ask a teacher to make sure you are experienced enough for this level.

Wed 20 Mar 2019, 5-6 pm. A series of bimonthly balboa lessons. In this meeting we will learn basic down - hold footwork and connection and start exploring how to use it to move with our partners. Due to unavailability of the dance studios, the second session will not begin until February 6. From then on we will meet every other week from 4 to 6 pm with an hour for lessons and an hour for practice. If you are unable to attend this first session you are welcome to come at 4 pm on Feb 6 to get a re-cap.
For these lessons please bring shoes that will allow you to slide or else, wear socks. This will not go well for you if your shoes are causing you to grip the floor. We may have a gap of about 3 weeks before the next session, but I highly encourage you to use this time to practice your footwork and get confortable with it, it will make the rest of the semester easier for you. Sun 24 Mar 2019. It is that time of the year again. We want you to be a part of our Gator Salsa Club Extravaganza on March 23, 2019!! Hundreds of people from all around the state of Florida and beyond come every semester to make this one of the largest student-run salsa events in Florida. The venue is amazing and classy, with very high ceilings, chandeliers, fantastic air conditioning and perfect floors.

Nia is a cardio dance group fitness class that incorporates martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. As an ongoing practice, Nia promotes mindfulness, holistic fitness and well-being. Nia empowers people of all shapes and sizes to connect to their body, mind, emotions and spirit by paying attention to sensation.
This one-hour class is perfect for all levels of experience and fitness.

Want to learn tango? Come join the UF Argentine Tango Club for a free beginner tango class. Feel free to join even if you have never danced tango before, there are teachers for whatever level you might be.
Who: Everyone can come. The beginner class is geared for people who have never danced before or who want to practice the basics. The intermediate class is for those who have been to at least some classes and is for you if you feel ready and confident enough to learn some new steps. The advanced class is for those who have been dancing for a long while now and will feature more complicated steps, so ask a teacher to make sure you are experienced enough for this level.
